Virgin Active - easy to joint, devious exit!!

I received an e-mail from Virgin Active in May: "A contract you have with us will be coming to the end of its initial term with us on 31 May 2023. If for any reason you don't want the membership to continue on a month-to-month basis after the initial term, please make sure you let us know prior." I called ***and confirmed my contract must end on 31 May and they allowed my last payment to be reduced by 50%. I called them on 31 May to confirm that I am no longer a member and after trying to convince me I accepted a monthly membership at 50%, they agreed to confirm my cancellation via e-mail - which I never received and FULL MEMBERSHIP went off my account again on 2 June. After having spoken to 3 people today, and left hanging for 10 minutes, I'm now turning to Hello Peter for resolution. Virgin Active had no authority to deduct any fees from my account after 31 May!!
