Virgin Active cresta
I have been a member of VA Cresta since October 2024. Today I terminated my membership because the club manager shared my personal information with my personal trainer. The personal trainer called me to tell me that the club managers were asking him about me. I don't know this guy from a bar of soap. He is not my friend or family but the club managers felt entitled and that it was within their right to do this. This is obviously unprofessional and an infringement of my privacy. Today I terminated my membership in protest because this is outrageous. This reflects poorly on Virgin Active because it shows that the club managers are poorly trained. Are these so called club managers aware of PoPI act? Do they understand that as managers in the club they are custodians of personal information and it's their duty to protect it? Is Virgin South Africa too big? When businesses become too big they don't care about customer and experience. There are so many gyms that have popped up everywhere, in fact, VA is a largely a socially irrelevant expensive institution. Gyms like this are elitist, and let's be honest, does it make sense to pay Virgin Active R900 a month for poor service/rights violation and management that treat you with disrespect? Ultimately this is not an issue of poor service, it's an issue of infringement of customer personal information which is a serious legal issue. I want to know from VA head office or national management if this is the culture of the institution that they want to lead.
