Virgin Active Cancellation Fee Issues

I had recently been accepted to attend University in Auckland Park, at the Kingsway campus. Naturally because I wouldn't have enough time to train, I enquired about the cancelation amount, which wasn't stated in my contract, and was informed it was 30% of the remaining balance. I entered the gym the next day to pay and cancel, but was then told the amount has changed to 40%, and after phoning head office, the amount changed to 50% of the remaining balance. I decided to rather hand in a written letter stating I wasn't pleased that no one knows what is happening at Virgin Active, the letter I handed in is dated and signed by an employee at Virgin Active and I have urged him to hand the letter to the general manager when he/she gets back, and to phone me if there is an issue with my letter. My account was rather kept running, I get emails saying I owe "x" amount, and recently I receive an email saying I will be handed over to their legal team if I don't pay in 30 days. So naturally I go in and ask what's happening, my account had been cancelled after 3 months of it being kept running, which I haven't paid for because I was still waiting for the cancelation amount. I then get told I owe R1771.00, of which 600 or so odd rand is my cancelation amount. after phoning head office again, I get told that my letter which I handed in hadn't been logged by head office, so it was emailed through. 2 days later and still no reply, wasting more of my time I have to go back in. The lady I spoke to at head office rather gets ugly when I tell her that the contract doesn't state all amounts exactly according to the NCA, nor the CPA. I was left having to pay R1100.00, which I feel shouldn't have been necessary, because my owed amount is 600 or so on tbe remaining balance of 1155 before they automatically cancelled my account, I had paid 385 at the beginning of tbe year in correlation with my letter which follows their rules set out in the contract. I feel I need a refund, I also realize that the CPA isn't the consumer protection act, but instead the company protection act. Not even Virgin Active knew this was happening, and now i am left feeling exploited, the staff at Virgin Active, in my opinion, need major training because i was left to work everything out on my own. I trust my issue will be looked at thoroughly, because Virgin Active are losing customers by doing this sort of thing. I am also appalled to say that instead of being professional, the woman at the front office rather laughs at me. Her name is Nomhle.
