Virgin Active breaks the law

Between 2009 and 2010 I was a personal trainer at Virgin Active Constantia. I left Virgin and started my career in IT. On Sunday 13 March 2016 I decided I was going to join the gym again, but this time as a member not staff. Upon trying to sign up I was informed that I have a black mark against my name and cannot join. When I enquired as to why this was the case, I was told it was because according to their system I had an outstanding amount from when I was a personal trainer. The consultant said he has seen this before and it should be easily resolved on Monday. Monday came and still no resolution. On Tuesday Piet Oosthuizen (National Personal Training Manager at Virgin Active) came back with a reply that if I pay half the amount he will remove the black mark. The Prescription Act 68 of 1969 says that a debt if not says contractual and delictual debts extinguish after 3 years. This is almost 6 years later. Clearly demanding this money is in direct contrast to what the law states. He is hence willingly breaking the law. As a result Virgin Active is too breaking the law.
