Virgin Active are *******
I have been paying R609 a month for gym membership for myself and my daughter. When my daughter turned 18, they wanted to put her onto an adult membership of R399 a month with no re-joining fees on a year's contract. With Planet Fitness offering a student membership for scholars at R199 a month with no joining fees, I decided to go with the Planet Fitness option. I then contacted Virgin Active to tell them to cancel the membership for my daughter and just keep mine at R399 a month. I was advised that because I did not give them adequate notice, they would have to charge me a pro-rata for the month of July, and that it would be around R425 for my membership and the pro-rata for her. I was then debited R823.02. When I queried this, I was told that this was the R399 for my membership and the pro-rata of her full adult membership of R699 for July. When I told them that the offer was for R399, the lady I was speaking to argued with me and told me the full adult charge was R699. I informed her that my daughter was on Vitality and should never be charged that amount, to which she informed me that my daughter was not on Vitality. How do you try and get your point across when the person you are dealing with does not believe that the client has any rights.
I am utterly disappointed with Virgin Active - they are complete *******.
