Virgin Active Amanzimtoti truly needs a wake up

Tue 28.02.23, around 7.30am, called the club 6 times... no answer... drove there! Called them while in reception - asked them why no one picks up... "oh the phone at reception doesn't work, so we have the phone routed to the sales office - but no one in sales comes in till 9am"... so what you telling me is that we can't get a hold of the club between 5am & 9am? Shocking! A lady member asks the "stand in manager" why there are no longer light dumbbells in the stretch area (6,7,8kgs) - answer "I am not sure, we took them away"... the lady rightly states "there is but ONE set of 6,7,8kg in the weights section - how is that acceptable - we have been asking for months now?" - answer "I know, club manager says we getting some new equipment in June sometime"... the lack of accountability in this club is ridiculous - I myself have asked AYANDA (the only person in this club willing to put himself in the firing line with members to understand their frustrations) for the past 8 weeks, "where the 15,20,30kg barbells have disappeared too?" His "maintenance manager has been making a plan for 8 weeks now???" Who the hell in our club needs the 45,50,55kg bars when almost 80% of men and some woman, need the 15,20,30's... You know what, go to Mr. Price Sports and buy 1 set for R500 and leave it in the gym TILL YOU get the weights from Mars in June... I am willing to bet R10,000 that a club survey of just 100 members in peak hour (5am-8am)/ (5pm-7pm) would show >80% UNHAPPY with the level of service/ equipment etc... I further bet that >80% would NOT know WHO the club manager is, because he NEVER takes the time to "walk the walk" with his members... in my opinion, he KNOWS, if he walks onto the floor at 5am and introduces himself to his members and ask them (AS HE SHOULD) what he can do for them to improve their experience, he wouldn't be able to handle it... just like all the "stand in managers" who by the way, "agree with how frustrating things are"... they ALSO shake their heads, but nothing ever changes! Everyone is passing the buck! If an upgrade in weights is coming, WHY don't we know about it... we have certainly raised enough concerns... I tell you WHY, because the "oh some new upgrades are coming in June" is a way to keep is quiet till June... but if you transparent and you let us know, we will hold you accountable... and that is the one thing VA Amanzimtoti doesn't have - accountability! VA Head Office needs to do some member surveys - don't take MY word for it! You will be shocked!
