Violation of my personal space

Good day

On the 6th of August I went to Virgin Active Lenasia, upon my arrival I asked the lady at reception to replace my access card as I had lost the one, I had initially. She asked me for my ID number before she gave me a new card. She told me not to use the card for 24/48 hours as it was not yet activated, I used my Virgin Active App to gain access to the club.

I went straight to the change rooms to put away all of my belongings which included my phone in one of the lockers, I made sure I had locked it using my own padlock before I went to class (Rumble 18h00). When I got back from class, I used my key to unlock my padlock which was still locked and I discovered that my phone was missing.

There was no forced entry nor was my padlock broken so it shows that this is an inside job and whoever took the phone had done this before because apparently this wasn't the first incident.

I bought the phone less than 3 months ago!! Also, what is more frustrating is that the club manager and the ladies at the reception kept telling me "that's why we advise members to use the valuables lockers because there's cameras there". I used to go to the Maponya branch before it closed down, I used to leave my belongings in the locker and found them in my locker.

I called to find out how they will resolve this or to advise what the next step is, however, the club manager was just loud and condescending for no reason.

The signage in the locker rooms does state that we should not leave our valuable items unattended and hence I locked the locker that I was using before heading to class. How someone broke into my locker and stole my phone is a question I ask myself and how did they manage to lock it right afterwards also seeing that this is not the first incident, how is management planning to resolve the theft issue at the gym?! A gym like Virgin Active should not be having theft issues of all the gyms in SA I preferred Virgin Active with the amount of gym fees I was paying the least they could do was to ensure that they don't hire ********s.

We go to the gym to deal with stress and other mental issues and this happens? ! This was so disappointing. I honestly believe If I was an Indian woman this issue would have been escalated and treated with the utmost importance but because I am a minority this is the treatment that I am getting. Nobody cares; I have emailed them and even wrote a post on Facebook but nothing!
