VA Red - Double debit orders - cancellation and membership

My experience with Virgin Active started in February when I contact Virgin active about Virgin Active Red in Jabulani Soweto. My concern was about the stench that came from the drinking and shower water. I thought it was my nose but confirmed this with my niece and son. That is when contacted VA and subsequently I got a response from the General Manager Thato Moyo in Jabulani VA Red (see email thread below).

I have since cancelled all membership with VA on friday, 27 May 2016 and was told the debit will go off on the same day. Yesterday I had to call and remind them that they have to debit my account of the cancellation fee. Today I get the sms that they have deibted my account of both the cancellation fee and membership fee for the month June. When I queried it with Nevara she referred me to Thuli who called me from Cape Town ***, she told me that VA has to make sure that the account was debited and they will take 7days to reflect on their system. And that I might be refunded 4 days later. I surely dont understand why this is now my problem because somebody forgot to do their job. I am utterly not satisfied with both the administration and the facility treatment that I have experienced with VA and will not recommend this to anyone to join. I have been a member since the days of Health and Racquet. Disgusted and dissappointed.

emails: below

Hi Dikeledi,

As I had stated the water has been tested and we have been given feedback the water is ok. Unfortunately I don't have time frames we have a plumbing company come in Tomorrow, to help inspect aswell.

Thato Moyo, Club General Manager - Jabulani
VIRGIN ACTIVE HEALTH CLUBS - SOUTH AFRICA
Telephone: +27 (0)86 *** Mobile: +27 (0)84 *** www.virginactive.co.za

From: Dikeledi Motloung [***]
Sent: 01 April 2016 08:37 AM
To: Thato Moyo
Subject: RE: Jabulani Virgin Active

Good day Thato,

My name is Dikeledi. Thank you very much for the response. The smell is really unpleasant and makes one to wonder if there is no bacteria in the water. Looking forward to a permanent resolution to the problem. Do you perhaps have the timeframe as to when will this problem be sorted out. It will be unfortunate if the problem is no resolved as I will have to reconsider my membership at the end of term, this will mean that I have to pull out my 2 kids out of the gym and look for an alternative facility.

Regards,

Dikeledi Ndlovu,

From: Thato Moyo [mailto:***]
Sent: 31 March 2016 05:43 PM
To: Dikeledi Motloung
Subject: Jabulani Virgin Active

Hi Dineo,

Hope you well.

We do apologies for the inconvenience, we are aware of the current smell. We have had a water inspector come test the water and were assured that the water is fine, we are still investigating the smell on where its coming from.

Thato Moyo, Club General Manager - Jabulani
VIRGIN ACTIVE HEALTH CLUBS - SOUTH AFRICA
Telephone: +27 (0)86 *** Mobile: +27 (0)84 ***
www.virginactive.co.za

Please accept my sincere apologies for the drop in service. I have confirmed that your refund will be paid out today and will reflect in your account within the next 24 - 48 hours, depending on the bank that you bank with. I will also email you confirmation of this.

Regards,

Dave
