*** VA?

I recently started a new job, I've moved from discovery to momentum medical aid. I have not paid VA as my discovery vitality had expired. I went to rejoin using my Multiply premium membership and am told I owe in excess of R2000!!! I showed the sales person that I had not been for months but was told that I'll have to pay to rejoin? Please can I have feedback in writing via email VA as I feel that this should be shared with all your members in case they ever change medical aid. my group of friends are honestly behind me on this and we will collectively join a competitor literally across the road

Dear Dave

Thank you for your email dated 17/08/2016

Please note I am not in arrears as I have not used the facility once in the period where I have not paid. I do not have a contract with a term on it. I will not be charged for services not rendered.

Please explain to me how I am being debited twice a month on a contract that has been cancelled by Virgin? The sales person at the gym told me the contract has been cancelled. Please can you stop debiting that account as I am not using it and your constant debits are causing me costs on an account that is now dormant.

Virgin active had a stand at my previous employer OUTsurance and I specifically went to ask them if there is any kind of cost implication for moving from Vitality to Multiply and I was told by the attendant that the Vitality contract will be cancelled and I open a new Multiply contract. This was misrepresentation and this has put me in a predicament which is not acceptable at all. Do you hire people off the street without training to staff your stands? Clearly this person furnished me with incorrect information that has put me at a financial loss (well not actually as I’ve explained you will not hold me liable for membership when I have not set foot in the gym and at no time was consensus reached between Virgin and myself regarding the term of the contract)

Again I do not approve of the use of the word arrears as this term is lent to actual arrears where one has not paid for services rendered, Virgin has not once come to my home for a work out so I have not used your facilities in any way.

Thank you

Kind regards

Daniel
