Unhappy Customer - Rude, unhelpful staff

I am very disappointed with how Virgin Active Victoria Road, Pietermaritzburg handled a situation this morning. Yesterday, I forgot my jacket in the lockers only to realise it this morning. I called in to ask if it had been handed in and was told they would call me back. I ended up calling back only to be told that they could not tell me if anything had been handed in for that day (regardless of whether it matched my description or not) without me physically coming to the club. I said I was happy to come to the club if I knew that I wasn't going to be wasting my time and that there were in fact things handed in. I spoke with whoever was at reception and the manager and both were vague, unhelpful and quite rude. I'm not happy at all about how this was handled!
