Unexceptable behavior and unprofessionallism

On 14 November 2018 at 16:40 I entered the Paarl Virgin Active Health Club for my daily gym session.

While I’m still waiting for my gym partner I was looking for a open treadmill to warm up. I saw that the first treadmill was open and started walking on it. Werner Bosch came to and told me “dus my ***ken masjien *** af en my ***ken water bottel is nog hier”. I told him that I didn’t see the water bottle whereby he told me “ maak oop jou ***ken oe “ and he pressed the emergency stop button. He then called one of the ladies next to me and asked them “ tannie is dit nie my masjien” I couldn’t see to who he was talking. I tried to explained to Werner several times there were no towel on the machine and I didn’t saw the water bottle. He then went and called other two staff members that we’re standing on the bridge Taariq van Breda and Emile he asked them to tell me that it’s his machine. I was still trying to explain to Werner he can’t talk to me the way he did. He then told me “ek *** jou van die treadmill af” which was unexceptable for a personal trainer that is working with members and the general public that wants to join the club. Werner then took my gym belt, keys and card to another treadmill that was open, but one the staff members brought it back. At the same time one of the two went and call the club manager Wiaan van Jaarsveld that took Werner away and asked me what was happening. I explained to Wiaan that I got on the treadmill and how Werner Bosch caused a scene that the treadmill was his and how Werner verbally abused and treathend to assault me. Wiaan apologized and talked to me for some time and also asked the lady next to me what happened. Werner came back to me and asked me “watter ***ken kleur is die water bottel” infront of Wiaan. The manager then took him away, but I was very embarrassed and felt bad cause I came for a workout but here I’m getting stressed from the staff as I am a paying client at the club.

I feel Werner was very unprofessional and his behavior was unexceptionable as he is the face of the club. His photo is hanging at the entrance of the club and members will start to feel that this is general practice and the service how Virgin Active Paarl treats its members. I’m still shocked after the incident and feel that the management needs to look into this serious matter of unexceptable behavior and unprofessionalism.

For your attention and further handling.

Kind regards
