Unauthorised Stop Order Deductions

Unauthorised Membership Deductions - Surely by now there should have been legal action against Virgin Active for their repeated deductions from ex-members accounts long after they have formally ended their memberships. From the comments below this appears to be a regular practice. This happened to me years ago, and it took ages and thousands of rands gone before they finally stopped it. Then it happened with my son's membership. Now it has happened with my daughter's membership. When I needed a gym nearby again I paid up front for two years and refused to provide banking details because I no longer trusted them in control of a stop order. My daughter's membership has been terminated a number of times over a period of more than a year, but they never provided any written proof (nor previously). Now they want their "written confirmation" before refunding the incorrectly deducted payments, which I have absolutely no doubt, they know full well that they never provided. I am convinced that this is not simply incompetence, but a handy source of income, *********, or possibly worse? Be warned, you sign a stop order with this company. at your own risk!
