threats on 13 year old debt whilst i was dependant

Hi <br> <br> I was recently contacted by Virgin active bedfordview as on saturday I re-signed, with a gent by the name of Edgar, a contract due to me recently joining vitality and wanted to activate the benefits.<br> <br> I have been a member of Virgin active in my own capacity for at least 5 years and have always conducted my account in a satisfactory manner.<br> <br> I received a call today from edgar who said that my account would be negatively affected as when I was a dependent on my mothers contract in 2003 and amount of R1000 was handed over for collection, and now 13 years later as I was a dependant then, I am now liable.<br> <br> This debt has Prescribed by law! Nowhere in the contract the original signed in 2003 or my new one does it say that I will be held liable for that debt, even if it did why was this not actioned when i re-signed as a main member back in 2010??! You are taking a fat chance!<br> <br> This is extremely ********* and I believe this is unsatisfactory behaviour from Virgin active. The CPA has been put in place to protect the consumer and have no problem going there as I have done nothing wrong.<br> <br> Please respond soonest.<br> <br> Nick
