Terrible service with activation of gym contract
Virgin Active Vanderbijlpark. I received a Winback e-mail from Virgin Active. The e-mail stated that my first payment will be on the 1st of July and that the last three months of my contract is for free. The e-mail also stated that, if I bring a friend, that person will only start paying on the 1st of January 2023. On the 27th of May me and my daughter went to Virgin Active Vanderbijlpark to join. I paid R100 joining fee. When we wanted to use our gymcards on Monday, the 30th, to access the gym, our contracts was still not activated. On the 1st of June, they took an amount of R570 from my account as the first instalment. When I queried it, Greg from head office contacted me, said the deduction from my account was a mistake and that he will send the Vanderbijlpark branch a notice to refund me. We wanted to join a spinning class on the Wednesday, tried to book on the app, but our apps didn’t work, so I phoned Virgin Active Vanderbijlpark to book us two spinning bikes. They put me through to Sipho, and he said he can’t do bookings for us. He also said that they are not going to refund me. I then told him to cancel my contract, as Virgin Active is not keeping to their promotion terms. Sipho said I must phone head office to take i up with them. On Thursday I phoned head office, and they put me through from one department to the other, no one able/willing to help me. I was on the phone for about 30 minutes. I finally ended up at Saeed, that said he can cancel the contract, but I have to pay a cancellation fee of R1140. He also said that I must arrange with Sipho at the Vanderbijlpark branch to not take a cancellation fee. This is unacceptable as they state one thing in an email trying to attract customers to their gym, but then they don’t keep to their promises. It is also unacceptable that the Vanderbijlpark branch’s staff is so rude, disrespectful and unwilling to help me resolve a problem that occurred from their side.
