Terms and conditions please Virgin Active!

Serious complaint regarding Virgin Active accounts. I advise people not to be tempted into memberships without reading a hardcopy of the terms and conditions.

At the beginning of 2016 I was working as a sales agent temporarily, as means to finance my studies. I worked only for January so I decided to join the gym amongst buying textbooks with the money. I received pamphlets with a promotion from Virgin Active. It clearly stated that you can pay R170, so I immediately told some friends about it and proceeded to join.

Upon signing the contract, I was not made aware that there would be terms and conditions such as the R2000 cancellation fee which came to me as a surprise. I was only givenp access to the gym for 2 weeks, thereafter I was blocked although the promotion pamphlet stated 1 month access. Access to the gym is not my major concern, it is the Cancellation fee which has disappointed me and the staff's lack of commitment in explaining their product. Throughout 2016, even on Christmas, I have been receiving annoying calls from the MBD lawyers asking me to explain the story over and over again. MBD and Virgin Active keep bouncing me around. This is the Durban Virgin Active club near the Workshop. I am a student who made a poor decision by joining an expensive gym, however I don't believe it is fair to be charged R2000 for using the gym for only 2 weeks.

I don't have that kind of money. Kindly assist me in rectifying this misunderstanding
