Shocking customer abuse as Virgin Active and Vitality outdo each other!

I am absolutely horrified and extremely angry at the way in which Virgin Active and Discovery Vitality have taken funds from my sons. They were on my gym contract until they turned 18 in October last year. At which point Virgin Active contacted me and said they need to "transfer into their own membership". This entailed paying a R1600 which they claimed was from Vitality. They did this out of their hard earned money they had been saving. They also had to pay a monthly fee of just over R200 each from November.

On 3 January they contacted us saying Vitality had notified them that they cannot be on this contract as they are no longer on my Vitality policy (3 months after their 18th birthday). They blocked their membership and doubled debited their account for over R1000 for full membership.

On investigation, Virgin Active claim they were only informed by Vitality on 9 December and so they will cancel their membership as from end of January but will issue no refunds for them even though they should not have been on a contract in the first place as they are not in a position to afford over R500 per month.

Vitality claim it is Virgin Active at fault and they too will not refund a cent.

How is it possible that TWO such companies can rob 18years old twins of all this money which they need for their studies without a single once of remorse ???

Absolutely disgusted!!!
