After weeks of hounding me to pay an outstanding balance of about R700 for a contract I ended in 2017 I finally found proof of my cancellation confirmation with an agent at Virgin Active which then silenced their lawyers or debt collectors. I then spoke to a 4 different people and found very similar issues for the same amount. I don’t know what is going on there but something is up.

11 Mar 2020, 12:10Further to this, an email from their legal team was received this morning requesting the following:
2.1. Certified ID copy with 6 specimen signatures (not more than 3 months old)-so we can ascertain that we are dealing with right party.
2.2. Certified Affidavit (not more than 3 months old)-so you can state your dispute case coherently.
2.3 Proof of Cancellation/Termination of Contract..(a copy attesting to formal cancellation of contract can be obtained from Virgin active-note that according to your contract only written cancellation requests shall be regarded as formal and valid).
When they did not provide this to me in the first place and confirmed the cancellation via email.
A very tedious process after proof of this email was sent to them. AGAIN, this is not the first time they have done this and then followed up a ghost years later.
