Reckless business practices Virgin Active

My son has like numerous other children fallen into the trap of signing a contract with Virgin Active. After the child turns 18 and has been on the parents contract, their sales people harass them with signing a contract with them directly. The sad part is that they get your child's personal telephone number from your (the parents) contract details. I am so upset that they can actually sign a contract with a 18 year old without any proof of income. According to Llewelyn Cronje, the Manager for Durbanville branch where my son signed his contract, Virgin Active does not ask for proof of income on any contract that they sign as it is "just not a good business approach" It also seems the the NCA does not protect us from Virgin Active, so what to do. He was able to go to the gym for 1 month and after he got behind on his payment was refused access to the gym. The only way he could get out of the contract was to pay a penalty fee which he does not have. He must now pay for 24 months gym access for which he was only allowed access 1 month.

How is this even legal.
