No Compassion

I have been a member of Virgin Active for many years. My 2 year contract ended last year in August, which means it then went onto a month 2 month basis.

I unfortunately became unemployed for 4 months this year, from April - July. I didnt use the gym facilities during that time , and while I am mindful of what my contract states that I have to give 20 days notice in order to my contract I didnt foresee finding myself unemployed.

Recovering from not having an income for 4 months is not a quick process. Virgin Active wants me to pay R 2700 rand in order to reinstate my gym membership, this includes 4 months arrears. I have contacted the call centre and spoken to the claremont branch. They are not willing to entertain any leniency of with regards to this.

I dont wish to pay 4 months in arrears, I have been a member for 5 years. I do have a level of expectation from VA to exercise a more customer centric approach.

If VA wishes to remain persistent in their aim to extract R 2700 from me in order to continue my premium membership I will give notice for my account by the last day of September. My partner and dependent ( whose accounts are upto date ) will also give notice on their accounts.
