Money Active

In my two year contract with virgin active I have had numerous problems regarding my monthly subscription fee.

First, the debit order never went off on the date I requested. I requested the specific date for a reason. Last month the debit order did not go off at all and then I received a call the day after from Virgin Active to inform me that my account was in arrears. According to the consultant because of the public holiday the debit orders went off earlier that month. I did not receive any notification of that before hand.

My parents are also part of the gym and have also expierenced problems. They paid my brother's membership and went in to the local health club to try and terminate my brother's membership. They told them that they can't terminate at that time but suggested that my parents freeze the membership for two months. They filled in the paperwork but the full amount was still deducted both those months.

And now, This week I went into my local Virgin Active to cancel my membership. I paid the cancellation fee and signed the necessary documentation, but today the debit order still went off. Now I have to go into the bank to despute this and pay a penalty fee for that, not to mention the other debit orders that could not go off because now I have insufficient funds for those (my husband transfered just enough money for me for my other accounts).

I was planning on joining again in the future but now I will rather seek out another fitness club.
