Mobile phone and Credit Card ****** at Virgin Active Meyersdal

My gym locker was broken into on New Year's Day and my mobile phone and credit card ****** from my locker. I always thought the gym was a safe environment until this incident. I identified the suspect. I spoke to Andrew who was one of the managers onsite. He reviewed the CCTV footage and identified the same suspect. He advised that the suspect's picture will be passed on to the other gyms to make them aware of the issue. He also advised that they could not trace the suspect's entry or record in their system. This makes it unsafe as the entry point to the gym is not controlled. Any ******** can walk in and commit a crime to innocent members and will not be identified later. To date I have not had a phone call or response from the gym on what actions they have taken to keep the gym safe. There are other members of the gym that were also affected by theft in the same gym. I know there is an indemnity that protects the gym entity from theft, but what about its members? As a member I still feel unsafe to work out in an environment that does not put strong controls in place to keep their members safe. My credit card was maxed out by the ******** and my phone had to be replaced. This was a huge inconvenience to me.

Reviewer Update
I have still not received a call or response from Virgin Active Meyersdal. It seems they don't care about their members safety as they currently hold the monopoly in the gym active market, due to their association with Discovery Vitality. I am really disappointed, my total loss to date is R60 000.00 which was withdrawn from my credit card. I would like to know what safety measures they are putting in place to ensure their systems can track gym entry of any member or non-member. Also what measures have been put in place to ensure members belongings are safe in their lockers while they work out in the gym? I used a Yale lock and was a way for 30 minutes. When I returned, my locker was broken into and lock also taken along with my mobile phone and credit card. Surely there are employees cleaning the locker rooms that would have witnessed someone breaking into my locker? I also identified the suspect and advised Andrew about it and still nothing has been done about it! Surely someone will notice a suspicious character lurking around the gym. Whatever it is, we need Virgin Active to take more responsibility for the safety of their members!!! Thank you
