Membership cancellation

I requested for my membership to be cancel on the 6th of August. I did not receive a response from anyone. On the 1st a debit order went off my account, I sent a follow up email and to date I have not received feedback. The call center is useless as no one answers. Why do you make it so easy to join your gym and such a hassle to cancel membership. Can someone get back to me regarding this. I want to cancel my membership.
