I strongly believe that Virgin Active train their staff to mislead clients. Virgin RED opened in Parklands. I went for a tour at the gym and started my discussions with the consultant. I was told that RED is completely different from the "big" gyms as it offers limited equipment, but is focussed for the individual with limited time. The other significant difference is that you do not have to sign a term contract. You take out the membership for R199 per month and if you feel that it's not going to work, you give 30 notice and the contract gets called with no additional charges. So I never visited the gym and decided to cancel my contract. After having this discussion with Virgin Active and sending them all the information I am receiving phone calls from MDB Inc, claiming that I have to pay them R700 (The amount quoted on an sms yesterday was R597.) Please explain to me why the amount keeps changing everytime they make contact with me and why is it so important to mislead the consumer? I followed the rules as it was explained to me and now I am getting nailed? VIRGIN ACTIVE, please respond to me in writing as unacceptable and I will revert it to the ombudsman.
