Lousy business practice

So I just received a call from an Attorneys office on behalf of Virgin Active that I owe them 1 months gym membership after cancelling this membership more than 2 years ago. Note that the contract was only valid for 12 months and it was cancelled way after the contract expired. Then they also have the audacity to tell me that they have phoned me numerous times and that I am not co-operating in making the outstanding payment. Not once have they made contact, having the same cell number and email address for more than 5 years, and now I have to waste time going to any Virgin Active to get the call recording where they "phoned" me....get your facts straight - once that is done, contact me so that we can resolve this in the proper manner!!!!!
