Locking unemployed U/21's into contracts
My 20 year old son joined Virgin Active in September 2015.
At that time he was part-time employed as a waiter. He now has the opportunity to do a full-time course that is out of town.
Virgin Active is refusing to let him cancel it without paying thousands of Rands cancellation fee or he can freeze it and pay 50% of the monthly fee.
Firstly, how is an unemployed 20 year old allowed to sign a 2 year commitment like this? These sales guys just want the deals, and do not do proper assessments to see if what they are pushing for is even doable.
Secondly, how can you charge for a service that is not utilized?
Thirdly, where must he get money from to pay this if he is a full-time student in a small town on the West Coast?

This is *****ing from a young man by a large corporation! So he doesn't have the money, and therefore going to be blacklisted before he even starts his life as an adult at 21.
I want a clause passed that no Under 21's should be allowed to sign contracts like this unless they are permanently employed.
There is no fall out on this as the sales guys push inexperienced people into things, earns his commission. Come what may, member still has to pay!
Its 2015! Unacceptable!
