**** to by Virgin Active & misled into signing a contract

Contacted Virgin Active February 2018 interested in The Discovery Health Vitality Kids Gym membership. Spoke to & met salesman at the gym, where we given a tour of the gym and during the tour we were shown various parts of the gym, told what the kids can and cannot do. As per salesman the only equipment in the gym the kids could not use is the treadmill, certain other things such as swimming and squash was per adult supervision and squash was subject to availability or pre booking. We were further told that if we signed up before the end of the month we would only pay from the 1st April, if we paid the Discovery Vitality activation fee we would be refunded the debit order amount. Sometime within the next two days, was visited me at home by salesman, signed a contract (to date I have still not received a copy of the contract). On the 1st of March we were billed for the kids, which was the opposite of what we were told, Upon querying the issue Salesman responds - he offered to repay us from own monies as he "did not know" the process - In sympathy to him I told him not to worry.

Upon using the gym, I was continuously told by Gym staff that the kids are not allowed to use equipment, many of which we were told the kids could use in the tour. In fact the only three equipment the kids could use was the rower, the cycling machine and the orbit machine, often we would get told kids gets a maximum of 10 minutes on the equipment to accommodate for older gym members. At times we were left embarrassed in front of other gym members, and would just leave. Despite several attempts to resolve the matter were unable to and as early as the beginning of March I requested the contracted to be cancelled, I was continuously told the matter needs to be addressed by the gym manager, and a copy of the gym rules were dropped off at my house, with the salesman saying "please read this, I am not knowledgeable about the rules, I have not read them" This was another display of lack of knowledge of the salesman but this time it was more incompetence than anything else.

The gym rules clearly state that kids under the age of 14 may not use any of the equipment or gym areas that we were told the kids could use. After leaving messages for him over a period of almost three weeks I contacted Virgin Active Head Office, where the regional manager, contacted me and then only I was advised that the manager was off ill, at which time it was too late for Virgin Active to cancel the contract. I have stopped debit order payments on this account whilst trying to resolve this issue, pure inefficiency on the part of salesman to leave the matter unattended knowing that was a serious problem- the contract was requested to be cancelled and as a customer I was extremely unhappy with him. especially that his only concern was the sale of gym membership and conclusion of a contract in which I was **** to, given false information of the product and misled into signing the contract.

Three weeks ago I further attempted to resolve the matter by activating the Discovery Health Vitality gym membership as Virgin Active refuses to cancel the contract as the "cooling of period" expired. I however requested cancellation within the cooling off period,

I am being asked to pay for a contract that I do not wish to have, A contract that was sold to me based on dishonesty and false information.
