I was told by Kim Mandrey that, per club rules, members aren’t allowed to carry a personal first-aid bag because Virgin Active assumes liability and there are buzzers to call for help. In practice, I’ve experienced response times that felt far too slow—on more than one occasion, staff only arrived after several minutes (close to 10) and only after “investigating” first. In a real emergency, those minutes matter.

I left the conversation feeling unsafe and unheard. A policy that forbids prepared members from carrying basic first-aid while also not guaranteeing rapid on-floor response doesn’t inspire confidence..

This club has the facilities and potential to be great, but until safety policies and response times improve, I can’t recommend Virgin Active Gateway. There are numerous cases and complaints about Kim on the interenet and an entire website dedicated to her passion of ensuring the lives of virgin active members are put in danger and to increase the liability and insurance premiums of the virgin active group making it one of the most dangerous companies in the brait portfolio of businesses.
