Is this even legal?

I was contacted by a sales consultant by the name of Israel from the Virgin Active Littlefalls branch whom advised me that I am able to link my normal gym membership to my medical aid which will qualify to pay lower monthly gym fees. I was very interested and advised him to send me the documentation and I would sign it and bring it through to his branch when I had the time. When I received the documents, I noticed that my bank details were incorrect (which is strange because my normal membership fee comes off the correct account) so I was planning to come through to Israel's branch to change the bank details and sign the documents so we can do the switch. Unfortunately, I was unable to go through to sort everything out as I was busy. But that did not stop Israel from making the sale! Israel took it in his own initiative to do the switch with out me signing any documentation. I have now incurred bank charges on an account that I no longer use and my gym memebrship has been cancelled even though Virgin deducted my normal gym membership from my correct account. Is this even legal? If you ask me this is ***** and Israel needs to be reported for this.
