Impossible to cancel membership!

I cancelled our family membership in December... or so I thought. They only took me off and have left my wife on and want to charge R800 membership fees for April. I tried to call but get transferred from one consultant to another, then put on hold for ever... I guess in the hope that you'll give up and they can keep charging you. Now I'm informed that even though they stopped my account, and confirmed that the whole family membership was cancelled, they need to speak to my wife directly to cancel hers.
