******* collection attempt

I was a member years ago, but my ex-husband signed for the contract, i.e. he was the contract holder. Their system shows him to be the payee. However, after our divorce (married anc, no accrual) he stopped paying and the account was handed over. Now I can't join, because I first need to pay. According to Natasha in accounts as well as her manager, the fact that I was a member means that I am liable for a 7 year old debt belonging to my ex. If I want to join, I can pay 50% of the outstanding debt as settlement. How ridiculous! This is completely *******: holding me responsible for a contract I did not sign and refusing me membership due to someone else's breach of contract. What does it matter that I was "a member"? I was not the contract holding, thus not liable for the payment. This is disgusting and underhanded! And to think I have a spotless credit record, only to be embarrassed in this way. You should be ashamed, Virgin Active.
