Help me understand the downgrade penalty of R245?

I am shocked to hear of a downgrade fee of R245. My monthly club membership is R300/month but yet it costs me almost the same to downgrade from a premier membership.

I would love to understand what costs are incurred in order to downgrade a membership? To me its a simple system update. Ridiculous considering i have been a member almost 10 years
