HARMFUL MARKETING STRATEGY OR SELLING LIES
In October 2021 I received a call from the marketing consultant for The Virgin Active Waterfall requesting an urgent appointment not to miss their special promotion of one-year free membership. I was busy for the day but he insisted I must come which I did. I took his offer and only to find that it was meant to **********ly debit money with no benefits as explained by Johannes Mofutsana. for more than four months I have been battling a cancellation that he finally did it himself in January 2022. From the first month of his promise which was October Virgin Active started debiting R780.00 from my account which I repeatedly reversed until the end of December 2021. As of 18 January 2022, I receive information that I am owing Virgin ACtive R3700.00 for the cancellation fee which a free membership for a year was presented to me as false information confirmed by his manager Patience Tenyane. Since Miss Patience Tenyane requested me to write an affidavit she hasn't come back to me and didn't keep a promise to send me her email in order to forward to her my head office correspondence. There is no way you can demand a penalty payment on misrepresentation or lies. Meeting with Johannes he also confirmed that there are other clients whose accounts are debited the same way by Virgin Active. This is a harmful marketing strategy as consumers get into contracts after verification of their budgets, I was not ready to take up a gym contract but because it was presented as free, I didn't mind taking one. This practice should STOP with immediate effect.
