Financial Resolution between Personal Trainer and Client

Although I am really happy with the quality of service that my Personal Trainer has provided me (Seana Austin, at the Table View Virgin Active), I am unhappy that a situation is transpiring. Seana is holding on to about R18000 of unused Gym sessions. This money was given so sessions were to be continued until the end of 2016. Unfortunately she and I will no longer be training together, and I am not able to come to a place with her where she will be transfering the money to my new trainer. We have already worked out for 6 months, and she has already earned her due through this time (R250 per session, 3x a week, for 6 months = R18000), but now I am struggling to have her transfer the unused gym sessions/funds (another R18000 paid upfront) over to my new personal trainer. We have not signed a contract where it was stated that I would forfeit the money if I left her. There was no contract between us, and I feel it is [JUST] that she transfers the remaining money to a new trainer. Up to this point she has been avoiding the issue (not commenting on messages I have sent her asking about a transfer), and I feel I need to make a complaint about her unusual handling of something like this. If I had money from a client, which was meant for a future service, and I am not willing to transfer this money to another professional so that he can continue with the service that [I am not going to be doing] myself anymore, then I am holding on to something [that is not mine] and I have no entitlement to it. I said to her she does not need to refund me the money [personally], but I want her to transfer the funds (R18000) over to the new trainer, which probably makes things easier. I am not sure if this is clear to her, but I have to say, this process now is slowing down my training, and is hampering my progress altogether, and it is all because Seana cannot work with me to resolve this matter on her side. She has been contacted about the matter, and is not responding with the dignity of a professional that she claims she is.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We have raised this with the Club General Manager, Carl to investigate and will contact you with feedback.

I have come to be able to contact Seana regarding this issue. It has been settled that she will return the funds. I am to wait until Tuesday to have a proper response from her. I am sure she means to do what is right. Please note that the query that I have is concerning only to do with transferring of funds. I am completely happy with all the training I received from Seana, and I will continue to recommend her for anyone wanting to improve their physical condition. The 6 months we spent doing gym sessions have been great and always had a positive influence on my life in general.
