Entrapment tactics!

<p>I have recently signed up to virgin active through discovery vitality and subsequently cancelled my discovery policy. 2 weeks after the discovery cancellation took affect, i get an email from discovery notifying me of the implications of my vitality cancellation. most notible, my virgin active membership will now be charged at public rates. The email then goes further to advise you to contact virgin active direct if you would like to cancel the membership. So i contact virgin active to just so. </p> <p> </p> <p>This is where i learnt about all the hidden fees. So my monthly subscription has now gone up by over R600 per month and if i want to cancel it, it will cost me R3000 cancellation fee. If i want to donwgrade the plan, it will cost me R150 and i can only go to a single club for R700 a month. </p> <p> </p> <p>So virgin active sales consultants are very quick to sign you up with a screen facing them and ask you to sign a contract on a digital pad. Not once was i explained the cancellation process, nor was i shown any part of the contract, nor was a sent a copy of my contract. Even if i had been sent a copy of the contract, it seems that virgin active wants you to sign first and then give you a chance to read it, after you have paid them as well. </p>
