Does not care about their customers
I work out at the sandton cbd gym. This gym at the best of times is completely packed, it is too small, there is not enough equipment during peak times, there are always lines in the showers and generally the gym always smells bad. Now when I am saying that there is not enough equipment I dont mean I have to wait two minutes and then I can start training, I mean I have on a lot of occasions left the gym because after 20 minutes I still could not find anything to train with or on.
This was before the "new years resolutioners" started training. Now it is impossible to have a proper work out at all in this facility. It is clear from how this gym is built that Virgin did not consider, at all, the amount of people that actually work in sandton and would work out here.
It is yet another example of how modern day virgin active's would rather focus on having a Kauai take up a third of the gym and stretching mats another third. I dont understand why, if you see the gym area is already so small, why would you builD in a restaurant and a place for people to browse on the internet, YOU ARE IN SANDTON NOT SOME VILLAGE IN THE MIDDLE OF AFRICA, THERE ARE RESTAURANTS AND INTERNET EVERYWHERE.
Now my issue with this whole thing is that the club is obviously aware that there are too many people for this shoe box gym, I mean just this morning the line of cars to get into the parking lot stood onto West Street. Yet when January came around they start rolling out marketing campaigns to garner new customers, obviously not having any regard to the influx of people into this tiny gym, or how it would actually affect any of the people who currently work out there.
I understand business and that making money is what a business does, but does that mean you can just forget about your existing customer base every time you want to capitalize on trends. I have been a member at Virgin Active since 2013, yet I have never received anything from them, no promotional items, no discount, nothing. Yet every few weeks they run a promotion to lure more people to a gym with bags or discounts on memberships, these people most of the time do not stay very long, yet loyal members like me and Im sure many other people get rewarded with having to visit a small smelly gym everyday because Virgin is too concerned about new customers than existing customers.
