Disgusting and Unhealthy 'Health' club

<p>I am a cash member (paid upfront for two years) of the Virgin Active Vanderbijlpark 'Health' (and I use that term very loosely) club. The club is in an dismal state and poses a serious Health and Safety risk to anyone who uses the facilities. I have complained numerous times to the manager of the club, and even wrote a formal letter to highlight the unhealthy and unsafe state of the club and nothing has changed. To give an example: There are ants everywhere, even in the bathrooms (thousands), the equipment either doesn’t work, or the parts are missing (the pins are replaced by PENS in some cases), Ive found blood on the benches not once, but 4 times and even a used hypodermic needle / syringe in one of the bathrooms. The mats are worn, the equipment’s handles are broke, the ‘ropes’ are worn etc. Ive complained about this numerous times. Surely this is a breach of not only the contractual agreement between myself and Virgin Active but also a severe violation of the Health and Safety Act. I will submit a complaint to the department of Labour regarding this matter as well.</p> <p>As this is a severe violation of the conditions of service between myself and Virgin, I phoned this morning to cancel my contract. They (1) put the phone down in my ear twice and (2) when I got to the third person (I have recordings of the calls as well) she was extremely sarcastic and rude. Further to this, they are charging me a 40% cancelation fee (which they want to deduct off the money they owe me) for THEIR violation of the terms. How is this (a) fair or (b) legal.</p> <p> </p> <p>Rather do not registger at this specific club and go to Planet Fitness across the road!</p>
