Difficulty in membership cancellations

Why is it so difficult to cancel our membership! I have sent emails and tried to call the "IT systems Down" contact number which one of their consultants provided me with via WhatsApp, but no response. In my opinion, Virgin Active anticipates a substantial increase in membership cancellations and now claims there systems are offline to prevent loss in revenue!
