Deafening Music at Virgin Red

It has been suggested to me by an equally frustrated member of Virgin Red that I should try appealing to this forum, having exhausted, to no avail, all other avenues, to do something about the level of the music played at the Virgin Red Parklands gym.

This morning I counted 23 speakers in the gym area, not including the four extra large speakers around the grid area and a further two upstairs in the 'spinning area'. There are also another two smaller speakers in the ladies changing room, and I guess a further two in the gents, so you cannot even get away from the sound whilst changing. It is even possible to hear the spinning instructor shouting and screaming at the members all the way from upstairs to the furthest corner in the ladies. The size of this gym does not warrant such an extreme number of speakers and I have to wonder if the decibel levels could be causing long term hearing damage to members, and staff.

I have tried reasoning with all the general managers of the gym (we are now on number three within a year), if something can be done to reduce the music level. Depending who is on duty levels differ but unfortunately the bass is always up there, at times rendering it hopeless to try and blot out the music by listening to one's own music.

I have been a member of Health and Racquet and then Virgin for nearly 30 years and have watched standards continually drop. Eight months ago I transferred from the original Table View gym because of the deafening music, but I am finding the Parklands gym equally harrowing with as much noise yet less service, and yet I love the concept.

I fail to understand why it is necessary to play the music so loud and as much as I would be loath to leave the Virgin family I am seriously considering making the move to Viva where the music level are at a much more acceptable level and customer service seems to be more of a priority.
