<p>Last week o was contacted by Moses, a representative of Virgin active. He said he was calling to find out why I hadn't been using my Discovery Vitality discount, which had to be activated by paying a hefty R1865 once off fee. He had given me an option of incentives, a R750 Adidas voucher or R500 cash back into my account, I agreed to the R500 cash back and we had arranged an appointment to get things going. When arriving at my the local Virgin Active, I was presented with a R750 Adidas voucher, which would be attached to my application form and would be redeemable online by using a code which would be sent to me via SMS. I had insisted on the cash back, only to be told by Moses that the voucher was found inside the GQ magazine. Having to take an afternoon off work for this, Moses and I quickly set out in search for a GQ magazine. Heading to a filling station and then furthermore to the Pick 'n Pay, because according to Moses, the one at the filling station was not the correct issue. We had found the same issue at the Pick 'n Pay. He had convinced me that should I sign the contract, he would escalate the issue to head office that I had bought the GQ magazine and found no voucher inside which would grant me R500 cash back on activation of my Discovery Vitality discount, and had asked me to lie about having bought the magazine solely for the voucher and to have been upset that it was bit part of the contents of the magazine, as was advertised of TV. I haven't received any call regarding this, but I have received the Adidas voucher, the option I didn't choose. Overlooking the time I had to take off from work to go magazine searching with Moses, I was sent a SMS on Wednesday, 31st May, reminding me that R225 gym fees would be debited from my account on the 1st June. On the 1st of June, to my surprise I was debited R675 and left extremely upset by this. I had taken an afternoon off work to look for a magazine which I don't read, to find a voucher which wasn't contained in it. Over and above that, I had paid R1865 to activate a 'discount' which is R210 more than my initial monthly installment of R465. This is completely unacceptable and I wouldn't recommend Virgin Active to anybody out there. Thanks for your time. </p>
