Cancelling my membership after 15 years

I am a 36 year old man and have been a member of Virgin Active for 15 years, 7 of the last years were as a collection member. Today I ended up cancelling my membership which I've held onto since the age of 21.

Virgin Active is constantly giving freebies to new joiners, "2 months on us" campaigns. But they never give anything to their tenured members.

Both Alice Lane and Melrose Arch have decided to renovate their clubs at the same time, so I had asked to have my membership frozen/suspended for a couple of months while these renovations are being done, as I had done this before when I was 24 years old. Their only option was to downgrade me to a national membership for lower fees. I don't want to use the other clubs, and I don't want to be charged for a membership that I can't make use of.

In the end I had to decide to completely cancel my membership after being a member for 15 years.

Thanks for that Virgin Active, a rather sad situation and the end to a 15 year old relationship which I have held dearly all my adult life.
