Cancelling memebership for a sick person

This is very frustrating, we have been trying to cancel membership with Virgin Active for my brother who currently sick and moved out of town. They tell us he should come and cancel it himself. He is sick mentally for heaven sake we cannot keep paying until he is well. Please help somebody!!!
