Cancellation of membership due to retrenchment

<p>On the 5th May 2016 I contacted Virgin active call Centre to cancel my contract due to retrenchment. I was assisted by Sheryl who mentioned that I must pay R1185.00 to cancel my contract. I advised her that I need to speak with a Manager because I have been paying my membership fees in advance. She advised me that I need to send an email to *** and attach the retrenchment letter. I sent the email on the same day however no one ever contacted me from Virgin Active. I saw emails between the Manager about my quiry on which I don't think they knew that I was copied in on the emails (Emails from Harriette Wyngaard Call centre team leader, Nawaal Daniels and a certain Shanaaz). Today on the 08 June 2016 I contact Virgin Active to follow up on the cancellation. I was assisted by Lexie Speelman who advised me that the reduction of cancellation fee was rejected due to the fact that retrenchment was not a serious matter. As I stated above that I wanted to continue with my membership however I was retrenched. It is with great disappointment that Virgin Active could not consider my situation because I have been paying my membership fees in advance to show my commitment on my contract. I want to advise my family and friends to be careful od dealing with Virgin Active because of their unfair treatment. I am very disappointed with the treatment I received from Virgin Active. Now I have to pay R1394.00 for cancellation fees on which I do not know where I will get the money.</p>
