Cancellation of Membership
In 2010 my Virgin Active contract had already expired and when I wanted to cancel my membership I was told to do so at the branch where I originally joined before moving to Johannesburg. I sent a fax as written notification to terminate my membership on 25 February 2010 to Nelspruit Virgin Active. When membership fees continued to be subtracted for months afterwards I took the documentation to the bank who cancelled the debit order. Imagine my surprise and dismay when I received a call from a debt collector late last year claiming that I owe about R 5,000 of membership fees in arrears - all when I destroyed my membership card when I terminated membership years before. I tried to explain, but of course to no avail. Now I am harassed on a regular basis, and seem that I have to go through all the effort to try and set the record straight, all while dealing with a company whose administration is either lacking or willfully ignored. I would be too happy if it could be sorted out at last.
I have tried to touch base with you via your mobile phone but to no avail.
On behalf of Virgin Active I would like to apologise for any frustrations caused.
An email has been sent to you with feedback regarding your previous contract with us.
Should you require any further assistance, please feel free to contact me directly.
Kindest regards
Robyn
