Being charged to cancel my gym membership during a pandemic

Virgin Active are really going to charge people to cancel their gym memberships DURING A PANDEMIC!!!

I called their customer service to cancel my gym membership seeing as this pandemic does not have an end date and I do not see myself going to a gym and increasing the risk of infection. I was then told I must PAY a cancellation fee of 20 business working days!

How is this even legal?
