Are you listening to members above the blasts of your ********** music?
I cannot fathom why Old Eds Virgin Active insists on blaring the most awful music throughout the gym. Every time I go there, I have to ask them to turn it down. it is loud in the cardio area, the weights area and it even bellows through the speakers in the bathrooms. I am not sure if the latter is to ensure that members limit their shower time. I wear noise cancelling air pods and I can still hear it. I have been told by the employees that the music comes from head office and they are unable to change it. I can only assume that the creators of this music are amateurs as opposed to paid DJs because nobody would voluntarily listen to the unharmonious array of doof doof beats that assault our ear drums. Perhaps the gym does not want to pay anyone royalties? Many gym goers come to gym with their own music. Additionally, the cardio equipment has TV channels so members can plug in their ear phones (although this does not apply to those of us with air pods and the blue tooth does not work.) My argument is why should we be subjected to the booming blasts from the gym's many speakers? I am convinced that the sounds surpass the acceptable and safe decibels we should be exposed to. Furthermore, the music from the studios somehow manages to resound over the gym's music. The instructors pump their music to unacceptable levels. When loadshedding takes place, the music still operates at top sound yet the air conditioners do not work so the doors to the studios remain open. Responsible measures need to be put in place to protect our ears. Old Eds, are you listening to me?
