*******!

17th Aug i joined virgin active collection club as a discovery bank and vitality member. I was made to believe that its an automated process. September i was told that my vitality is not linked and ill have to convert beginning october, hence ill pay full charge of R2900+ for October. Mind you I registered when I was out of the country on business. I was told tht to convert i need to be physically present at the gym. I couldnt make it and in the october bill came in full price. I made a payment arrangement in November, and as per payment arrangement email which i possess, im able to enjoy full access if i have an arrangement in place. To my shock, i was not allowed access, and neither could i convert to vitality if i have arrears. Their explanation was that a cellphone contract is binding whether i use the service or not. In their case they forget that i did not have abn option to use service as i was barred. Yesterday i received an email reminding me that if i have a payment arrangement i can continue enjoying access, which is false. I hardly have problems with my contracts, but on this one i have cancelled my membership, and i feel like they take advantage of helpless people. As a citizen fortunate to have the best and limitless legal backing, im looking forward to taking this further, not only for me but for everyone in a similar situation.

A lot of people fall prey because they do not know contractual rights. They failed to furnish me a contract copy on signup, neither did they give me my gym back as per ad which lured me to the offer. As per law im allowed to give 20 days notice subject to cancellation costs due for services rendered. I will not be paying those costs as i was barred from accessing any services. Neither have i set foot in the gym nor collected my card/activated my membrship.
