35% INCREASE IN FEES??
I've paid R131 per month in 2015 for my membership at Virgin Active Sunninghill (Vitality member). This year the fees are R177 per month. That is an 35% increase in membership fees? can this be right? A normal person gets 6% inflation increase on your salary - how can we afford a 35% increase in gym fees? This is ridiculous!!!

Every year Virgin Active undertakes a thorough review of the costs of doing business with the aim of minimising, as far as possible, the impact to our members. It has been a tough few years for the South African consumer and we appreciate that your hard-earned cash is just that, hard-earned.
Vitality is dropping their subsidy from 80% to 75% in 2016. This means that you will be paying for 25% of the Virgin Active membership fee and not 20% as in the past. The increased membership fee for 2016 is made up of the difference in subsidy as well as the standard increase.
Please be assured that we will continue to reinvest in our Clubs. In the course of 2016 we will invest in excess of R 225m in our existing facilities and continue our initiatives around energy and water saving, while at the same time continuing to bring you innovative new classes, facilities and a world-class experience.
