VIP Flooring

<div>"SL Marble Floors" installed at our new home at the end of July 2022. The kitchen stairs, dining room stairs and lounge stairs uneven and warped and the step slanted downwards. It was very dangerous and we slipped a few times. Within weeks the kitchen floor literally cracked open and the entire floor installation presented with cracks, stains and chips. Claude, the owner of VIP Flooring arranged for the kitchen floor and stairs to be repaired in January 2023. The kitchen floor not properly sealed and badly stained. The stairs are even worse and are so bad that the stairs will have to be chopped out and rebuilt. The remainder of the floor installation still has cracks and chips and some parts in the family tv room has not been completed. We have been told story after story after story - elaborate and bazaar to say the least. We called for a second opinion as to whether our floor can be fixed/repaired and have been told that unfortunately the floor installation is so bad that it will have to be chopped out and redone. Staff unsupervised and not provided with the tools and equipment to do the job and/or do not have the proper skill to carry out the works. Numerous invitations extended to Claude to come out and inspect the job but told "I will come out when the job is finished". The problem is that the job will never be finished because it seems that when repairs are attempted the condition of the floors get worse. Claude has blocked my number so I am not able to contact him. When meeting Claude one felt comfortable because he appears friendly, professional and good at the job, but when it comes down to the job it turned into an absolute nightmare. It is unfair that Claude takes peoples money, doesn't do a proper job and then people have to make a plan to fix their floors. This matter is particularly heartfelt by me because I used money my late brother left me to install the floors, hoping that every time I looked at the floors I would be happy, smile and think of my brother. Claude has ruined that for me. I want my money back. We are tired of all the stories - elaborate stories. The job done is horrible and we would like our money back so that we can have the floors redone.</div>

Reviewer Update
Subsequent to my HelloPeter post we received an e-mail from Claude saying how sorry he was and that he confirmed that the job on our floors had not been done as it should have been and that he would like the opportunity of a redo. We have since then on two occasions scheduled a meeting with Claude to visit our home for a site inspection so that he can see for himself how bad our floor is (he never made any site visits and inspections despite our repeated invitations and requests for him to do so) and so that we could discuss with him how he was going to attend to the entire redo of our floors (the process etc). For the first scheduled meeting he sent my husband a message (he blocked my number) to the effect that his father was terminally ill and he would not be able to make it. We then scheduled a further meeting for 11 April 2023 and no surprise, Claude did not arrive. He has not read any of my husband's messages and ignores his calls. Claude has been full of excuses from the get go. We have been told he had a stroke, the installer is stranded at the township, the installer's car has broken down, the installer's wife is sick so he wont be working, he has been involved in an attempted hi-jacking, the installer got something in his eyes so he is booked off, the product has formed "jelly beans" so it is useless and he will have to order more from the factory - the excuses go on and on. We have been trying to get our floors installed to a standard expected and for the R35 000.00 we paid Claude and we have given him not once but two chances for a redo (the first attempt at a redo made the floor even worse) and with the second chance at a redo he is now a no show. To date we are not any closer in having the situation resolved and our floors installed and looking as they should. It seems that Claude takes your money, uses substandard products, he then gets guys who are not experienced and are not equipped with the proper skills and tools who end up doing shoddy job. It seems to be an all to fami**** situation where Claude keeps on coming up with excuses so much so that one gives up and cuts their losses or he tells you that the problem lies in the installation area with water, damp, movement etc and again he takes your money and you get nothing. All of Claudes excuses and no shows seems to indicate that he has no intention of remedying the situation.
