Dishonest dealings

<p>I approached Vince's gym to join, and after lots of sales talk, was shown a "brand new winter special" of R349-00 per month for a family package, as long as it is paid by credit card. When I mentioned I did not want to join for three years, the fee was upped to R399-00 per month, paid in full on credit card for 12 months, still for the "FAMILY PACKAGE". I mentioned I want to add my daughter, age 18 for now and my husband may consider getting a gym card a later stage. My husband went back two days later to collect his card, at which he was told there are already two principle members on this contract, and he cannot join, or can join at an additional fee of R150-00 per month.</p> <p>At NO stage was it indicated that only two principle members could join. They verbally agreed that all three of us can join on the "FAMILY package" but then changed the rules two days later. Nowhere in the contract does it state that there is an age restriction on children's or adult's age to make use of the family package.</p> <p> </p> <p>Thereafter his story keeps changing about why either my husband could not join and why there are additional fees for every request we made. Additional to this he overcharged me for the agreed fee, and now deducted double the indicated bi-annual levy. Talking to them is of NO use.</p> <p>I have contacted the Consumer Protection Council and they indicated the terms MUST state specific age restrictions, else children of any age should be deemed to join the family package. I will submit a formal complaint to them as well. The contract MUST also state everything they verbally mention or offer, which is not the case.</p> <p>Be very careful of these guys. They make verbal offers and then change their story. A dishonest bunch!</p> <p> </p>
