Bad service

I made a telephonic booking and was sent a quote . I paid the deposit and then had to cancel due to my dads emergency brain surgery and been unable to travel . I requested my deposit back . I was told it’s non refundable but she will open the booking to see if other people will take it . No where in my quote does it state it’s non refundable . She also did not open the booking on any website as stated.
